Kara is married to Avedis Akmakjian and has lived in Glendale, California Since 2002. Kara also calls Mesa Verde, Costa Mesa her home where she was raised with her family in Orange County, California near the beach. Their two sons Zachary Markar and Clayton James are college graduates of ASU & Belmont University. Zack a Professional Engineer living in Tempe, Arizona and C. James managing the Biscuit Love Brand in Nashville, Tennessee. Kara’s free time is spent with her family, friends and walking the family pets Shiloh & Lacey.

Don Hinton brings over 30 years of Commercial & Residential Real Estate experience to The Handy Group.
Don has worked in Residential Sales and Income Property Exchanges throughout his career. He also has multiple years of experience specializing in turning troubled businesses around, working with business owners and their creditors to develop and implement a mutually agreed upon business plan to repay creditors and restore the
businesses to profitability. While working at Imperial Regional Bank, Don solved complex issues with existing Commercial and Real Estate loans and eventually moved into the Real Estate Division. Don has held positions as a Production Loan Officer, Senior Credit Officer, and Manager of Real Estate Division.
During Don’s 27year banking career he was involved in the origination of well over $1.5 Billion of Construction and Bridge financing for Commercial Office, Industrial, Retail, Apartments, Residential Tract, Condominium and Special Purpose Properties. Each loan unique with its own set of challenges and each loan specially tailored to meet the needs of the borrower and the project. Don has been involved with almost every property type and
has handled several transactions exceeding a purchase price of $30 million.
